Android TV Dongle and/or Boxes are streaming devices that plug into your HDMI TV, and turns your TV into a smart TV so you can surf the Net, social network and stream and download content. This would be similar to plugging your Laptop to the TV and using your TV screen as a monitor. All devices have the same capabilities, and some have the same look. When you choose a device, all you are choosing is weather you would like a mouse or a keyboard/mouse all-in-one, (the device has a on screen keyboard). You also have the option of having a newer model, for example 4.1 or 4.2 were the 4.2 is the newer model(“like saying windows 7 or upgrade to 8”). You will also notice there are two types, one called (Dual Core) and one called (Quad core). The difference is the level of applications it can run at one time, and this means you can run more programs with the Quad core at the same time then you could with the Dual core. This is not important for what you would normally use it for; you wouldn’t necessarily need to run more than 3-4 programs at a time. In this sense the (Dual Core) is completely capable, but of course bigger is better. You can also either buy a box or a dongle, so lets compare that with a Desktop or Laptop, were the Box is the Desktop and the Dongle being the Laptop. They are both capable of doing the same things, but the box will usual have more Ram, Storage, and Processing speed. Unless you need the extra specification , the dongle should be able to handle most requirements.

Which Android is the best to buy

Having trouble deciding?

We all know how many different devices are out there, and admit it can be a bit difficult to decide. Here are some questions that can help you choose the right device for you.

1. Who is the device for?

2. What is the main use for this device, i.e movies, social media, etc..

3. How many times will you need it

4. Where in the house will you put it.

5. Do you have broadband and who’s the provider

6. How much are you willing to spend.

7. Do you have a HDMI TV

Answers explanation to the questions.

  1.  it is important to know who you are buying the Android TV Dongle or Box for as they are computers and not all people are good with computers. For example, some elderly refuse to adapt to modern technology and have not bothered to learn basic computer knowledge. Buying one of these devices for someone that is not into computers will be a bad investment.
  2. What will you be using it for would determine what type you need (Dual core) or (Quad core)
  3. How many times will you need it? Knowing this will help you decide if you are to buy a dongle or Box
  4. Were in the house you wish to put it, will also help you decide, as the Boxes carry a further WIFI signal
  5. Knowing who your provider is will help you the know the  providers broadband speed, as it is important to have a faster speed for these devices as the transfer a lot of data when streaming. It is also good to know who blocks site you might find interesting, and who give you the option to choose. for example BT gives the option to edit permissions were as Virgin Media don’t.
  6. If you don’t have much to spend you can you will need to consider how powerful the device will be and if that will be satisfactory to your liking. Most devices out at the moment can produce good use, but as you should know the more you spend the better the specifications.
  7. Do you have HDMI, it is always better to have a HDMI TV, it just needs to be HD ready and not necessarily output HD quality. If you buy a dongle you will need a HDMI port.
